Research and Innovative STEM Education

RAISE

invites all Metro DC high school students to participate in our evening classes and summer camps. The programming is completely free to attend and will include food, STEM swag, and interactive activities. High School students will come to the Catholic University of America’s Campus and learn from engineering faculty in our newly built STEM makerspace. RAISE is funded by the Office of Naval Research as part of their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Program.

STEM Education Classes in Washington D.C.

  • Engineering scaffolding and construction

    One-Day STEM Education Class

    The one-day STEM class will host high school students to work on hands-on projects. This class will include activities using 3D printers, laser cutter, and CAD software. 

  • Circuit Board

    Programming and Cybersecurity

    This class set is a four-night afternoon event that will teach students the basics of programming and cybersecurity. No prior programming experience is required.

    STEM Summer Camp

    The Engineering New Frontiers program combines multi-day hands-on activities, presentations by experts, onsite tours of local engineering facilities, and an evening program.

FAQs

  • The programming is completely free. All of the events are sponsored by the Office of Naval Research.

  • The programming will start in September 2022.

  • The best way to get to the Catholic University is to take the Red Line to Brookland/CUA metro stop. The Makerspace is located on the first floor of Pangborn Hall.

  • The classes will be taught by leading engineering professors, students, and professional engineers.
